Sign up today to record your story

You are invited to share and record a conversation with a family member or friend for generations to come with the new Bridges Library System’s Community Voices of Jefferson and Waukesha Counties.

Member library staff have been trained in the StoryCorps interview style and will record your story which will be archived with StoryCorps Online Archive, Library of Congress American Folklife Center, Recollection Wisconsin and Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). Stories can also be kept private and delivered to you via a private link.

What do I talk about?

Every life is a remarkable journey filled with triumphs, challenges, and invaluable wisdom. Talk about your personal adventures, cherished moments, lessons learned, or simply sit down with a friend and reminisce. Your story will live on for generations to come.

What Is Community Voices?

Community Voices of Jefferson and Waukesha County aims to preserve and share stories in order to build connections between people. We also do this to create an online archive for future generations. With your permission, stories will be shared to StoryCorps’ Online Archive and preserved at the Library of Congress.

What Can Participants Expect?

  • A trained facilitator will contact participants to set up the recording date, meet them at the decided location, go over the paperwork, and help both conversation partners settle in and get comfortable.
  • Participants will find a compassionate, respectful environment in which to share their stories.
  • Participants will have up to 40 minutes to record a conversation.
  • Participants can choose their conversation partner and what they would like to talk about.
  • The recording is audio only. No video will be taken.
  • Participants decide whether to share their recording or keep it private.
