The public libraries in Jefferson County will be joining Waukesha County’s CAFÉ library automation system in early December as they transition to become members of the Bridges Library System. That means CAFÉ, our shared catalog, will grow to 2.3 million items–offering more availability of items to enhance our patrons’ library experience! The CAFE catalog has always been a treasure trove of resources. With the additional items, it becomes the third largest shared catalog in the state of Wisconsin and gives our citizens even more depth and breadth.
The addition to the catalog requires that CAFÉ will be “down” from December 2-9, 2015 for the Waukesha County Libraries and from December 1-9 for the Jefferson County libraries. When the system is “down” patrons will not be able to login to your account, view the online catalog from home or inside the library, renew materials, pay fines/fees, or place holds.
Patrons will be able to visit the library during this time, check out all types of materials, check out e-materials, use the library’s website and Internet access, and keep your position in holds queues.
Libraries will want to be sure to inform their patrons of the disruption so that they are not too disappointed when the catalog goes down in early December. We’ve prepared some marketing materials for you to use or adapt for your local situation.
We appreciate everyone’s patience while we take the steps necessary to make this improvement!
