The CAFÉ catalog is now offline
Q: Why is CAFÉ down? Is this a technical difficulty?
A: No, CAFÉ is down for a planned migration for the merging of data from all 24 public libraries in Waukesha and Jefferson Counties.
Q: Why are are the two counties joining into one system?
A: A new two county partnership, called Bridges Library System, is set to begin on January 1, 2016. All library services, including our automation system services delivered through CAFÉ, will be offered as a part of this new two county library system.
Q: What does this mean for me?
A: It means our catalog is growing in both number of titles and items available, making it an ever richer source of materials for you! CAFÉ will be the third largest catalog of public library items in the state of Wisconsin. More than 2.3 million items will be readily accessible and available to you.
Q: Since I can’t access CAFÉ right now, what else can’t I do?
A: In order to accomplish this migration, we need to take the system offline for a period of time and do all sorts of really technical work. If you are reading this, you know the system is now down. While the system is offline, the CAFÉ catalog is not viewable and no one can login or make any transactions on the automation system. That means you can’t renew materials, pay fines, or place holds during this time. We know it’s an inconvenience and we appreciate your patience while we do the work to make this happen.
Q: So should I avoid the library altogether while you are offline?
A: Absolutely not! You can visit your library and we sure hope you do! You can still check out items, attend programs, download e-resources, use meeting rooms, ask questions, and use the Internet.
Please note, some libraries may be closing for a day or two during this offline time, so we urge you to check your library’s schedule before visiting. You can see the list of our libraries with links to each library’s website here.
Q: How long will CAFÉ be offline?
A: We anticipate being back online on Thursday, December 10th.
